People who have technical knowledge will find it very easy to understand. The book should not be called a handbook as it lacks technical and material specifications on solar panels and other necessary equipment and also limited in in-depth design calculation. It essentially provides a basic understanding and practical knowledge for people to start with.

READ AND OUTLINE THE BOOK AND IF YOU COME ACROSS SOMETHING YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND GO TO THE INTERNET AND FIND OUT WHAT YOU NEED BEFORE GOING FARTHER.

on 2010-03-14I was looking for a book that would walk me though building solor panels, and based off what I'd read about it and the breif except, I thought it would be useful.
It wasn't helpful at all, book is mostly about what you need to consider when buying or installing a system for you home (I have purhcesed solor cells and want to build my own panels to power yard lights and a water feature, book is useless for that)

on 2010-02-13Great book! If you're looking to get into the solar powered world, this book is an excellent place to start. In fact, I read it twice to make sure I didn't miss any details. Yes, the author is based out of UK, but it isn't a big deal. It helps if you have somewhat of a scientific background (if you understand electrical power, voltage, current, and how they relate, you are fine).
